People come from all over the world to the Venice carnival held just before Easter each year, it has been going since 1162 with a break in the 19th century but it wasn’t until 1979 that the Carnival started again. The main purpose for my visit to Venice was to photograph the elaborate costumes and fabulous marks but I also took the opportunity to photograph other parts of Venice including of course the canals and gondolas.
