Morocco Casablanca to Fes 2009

My trip to Morocco was taken through Intripid Travel from 27th September to 12th October 2009. We started at Casablanca where we visited the largest Mosque in Morocco called Hassan II, we then travelled to Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Fes, Midelt, The Sahara, Dades Gorge, Ait Benhaddou, High Atlas Mountains, Imlil, Essaouira and finally to Marrakech for our flight home.

Chefchaouen was one of my favourite places, the village was painted blue throughout and there wasn't any traffic.Fes ally ways were something else, quite exiting, I expect I would have got lost without a guide. I enjoyed the Midelt area and was able to visit a small village, the villagers welcomed us quite openly. The Sahara was an experience, I rode a camel, camped in the desert and climbed the dunes. To go through Dades Gorge in a 4x4 was certainly a rough ride but one I wouldn't have missed it. At Ait Benhaddou I was fortunate enough to be entertained in a local's home with a Moroccan Tagine. Some wonderful views were had in the High Atlas Mountains. At Imlil I had a donkey ride up to a mountain village and also saw the end of the mountain Marthon run; I was fortunate enough to see the winner pass the finishing line who was a local lad, much to the delight of the villagers. Essaouira was the only place on the coast I visited, a great place full of fishermen and boats with some wonderful streets. My end point was Marrakech and the night markets were an eye opener.

Below are just a few images from my trip. I have made two pages, my other page is from Midelt to Marrakech, please click here to view. I have also produced a photographic book which can be viewed or bought from here
